My creative space - remembering the hexagons

Hexagon quilt revisited

The Fassett Fascination quilt from last week is on hold as I wait to see if my Fassett-stash will be improved courtesy of an impending birthday. So this week I've dragged out an old favourite and put it squarely in the middle of my creative space, to remind me to finish the bloody thing.

Remember the twisted hexagon quilt? I think the last time I spoke of it, I had 10 days to go until by 40th birthday and I was looking forward to finishing off the top. Well, here I am with 11 days to go until my 41st birthday, and I haven't worked on that quilt for almost a year. I never did finisjh the top before my birthday last year, and I never did enter it into the 2010 Canberra Quilt Show. Heck, I didn't even go to the 2010 Canberra Quilt Show.

I'm aiming now for August 2011. See what other people are aiming for in their creative spaces.

  1. Its important not to rush these things!

The hexagons are however rather beautiful ... hope you find inspiration to keep going as you look at them in your creative space.

  2. Oh, please do finish it! I just love the design, would love to tackle one of those some day. I'm 30 now. Maybe if I am for *my* 41st birthday? :)

  3. What would we do without WIP's in our lives? Surely life would be a little less without them. It's going to look amazing when it's finished.

  4. Gotta have lots of WIP's...they are little reminders of the journey life takes us on I think... xxt

  5. Nothing wrong with taking your time. I love this quilt and look forward to seeing it finished, whenever that may be. all your show talk reminds me I need to pick your brains about the Canberra Show too.

  6. Don't worry - it once took my Mum 20 years to finish a project. This looks like a phenomenal amount of work; so you can't rush it!

  7. I was going to post a comment on the pile of fabulous fabrics in your last post, but this post has definitely inspired me. I hope you manage to finish off your quilt!

I should get started on the second sampler one I've been meaning to make for a while now, but first to finish the easy one made of liberty print fabric that my Mum got me from London. :)

  8. I love the comments and I so agree, if there weren't WIP, what we would do with our time? Constant reminders of ideas and inspirations ~ good luck getting it finished

  10. I'm just catching up now from vacation - sad to see the shop go, but you must do what you need to do! What a cute quilt! You've just reminded me that I have my first simple adult quilt kinda of half cut out and just sitting there. Too many hobbies and not enough time!
